Personal Statement:
The eldest of three children, I was born in Harlem, raised in South Bronx, Staaten Island (all here in New York), and St.Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. From childhood, I have always considered the sciences my primary interest of study, but I've always been an avid reader and seeker of knowledge. My father filled two large book cases for his children to peruse, and my mother always entertained and encouraged my yearning to learn and experience new things. My mother's greatest contribution to the development of who I became was the day she introduced me to two women who would forever change my life and put me on the road to self-discovery: Dr. Cassandra Dunn and Dr. Roseanne Bell, both formerly of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). While still in high school, I was participating in various community programs and events organized through UVI. Months before I would begin my first semester there, I became chairman of the Black History Committee, a position I held until the end of my second semester at UVI. During that time I have either invited to speak or interviewed Afrikan educators and organizers from Dr. Joseph Ben Jochannan to Kwame Ture. In 1984 I joined the Zulu Nation in Bronx, New York. In 1986, I joined a work-study group with the All-African Peoples Revolutionary Party (Virgin Islands chapter) and in 1987 work-study with Afrikan Nationalist Science (Brooklyn, New York).

The road I have taken towards evolving into what is commonly known as being a "conscious" Afrikan (Black) individual, has not been smooth all the way. With Black Consciousness comes a realization that life for our people is not quite what it ought to be, and that there are a plethora of issues that need resolving. Black Consciousness demands that we endeavor each day to resolve these issues, (first) within ourselves, families, communities, and ultimately, the Afrikan Diaspora. What makes this task more challenging are the personality disorders which conflict with our new-found philosophy, that usually stem from a less than ideal upbringing. This has been my experience, as I have strayed from my chosen path on more than one occasion. In addition, I can be quite the thug at times, despite my learning. As quick to learn, I have also always been equally quick to brawl.

I possess a sincere love and appreciation of life (when I'm not in one my occasional misanthropic moods), I love justice (balance), music, art; all of the things that make life worth living, I love. I despise artifice, deceit, ignorance (ohhh, I have an extremely low tolerance for ignorance), disrespect, and cowardice. I don't have many friends (not in the true sense of the word), but I have the best friends one could wish for.
