2nd Annual Young Women of Color Conference, October 24, 2009

The personal power of girls will be the focus of the annual Young Women of Color Conference for girls of all races. It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m. Saturday, October 24, in the Conference Center at College of Southern Maryland. The theme for this year is I AM POWERFUL.

Young Women of Distinction and Hip Hop Education is pleased to present I AM POWERFUL for girls preteen and teenage girls, mothers, fathers, women and girl-serving professionals. The conference encourages girls to find the power to speak up and make positive changes in their lives in the face of adversity. The 2nd annual one-day conference is co-sponsored by Sistas United, Kiss My Face, MyChelle Dermaceuticals, Teen Voices Magazine, Discovery Girls Magazine, Gold Canyon Candles, Body, & Home, Sweet Plum Collections, and Afro Puffs & Ponytails. Being a girl can be powerful and the interactive workshops will explore healthy ways girls can find, keep and share that power.
